Package: gnumeric
Version: 1.5.90-1
Severity: normal
Opening the xls file
http://www.eex.de/info_center/downloads/dl_futures/energy_french_power_futures_historie_2005.xls
with gnumeric produces assertion failures
Reading file:///tmp/energy_french_power_futures_historie_2005.xls
Excel 97 +
** (gnumeric:7774): CRITICAL **: ms_obj_read_biff8_obj: assertion
`obj->excel_type >= 0 || record_type == GR_COMMON_OBJ_DATA' failed

** (gnumeric:7774): CRITICAL **: ms_obj_read_biff8_obj: assertion
`obj->excel_type >= 0 || record_type == GR_COMMON_OBJ_DATA' failed
The data seems to show up ok, but persumably the file has something
unexpected.

Revisiting this with gnumeric 1.8.0-1, the warnings have become
/tmp/energy_french_power_futures_historie_2005.xls:260: HTML parser
error : Attribute alt redefined
ets/images/marketdata/icon_nochange.gif" alt="0.008" width="8"
height="8" alt=""
^
/tmp/energy_french_power_futures_historie_2005.xls:268: HTML parser
error : Attribute alt redefined

/tmp/energy_french_power_futures_historie_2005.xls:268: HTML parser
error : Attribute alt redefined
arketdata/icon_nochange.gif" alt="0.021" alt="0.021" width="8"
height="8" alt=""
^
and these can easily be verified as being correct, as this xls file is
actually HTML.
As the warnings are now understandable ones, and as they are correct, I
don't see anything here that needs fixing any more and I'm closing this
report accordingly.
Kind regards,
Ray
