Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.7-1
Severity: important

I've got an mp3 that causes a few problems with XMMS. For instance, if I have
enabled the mp3 decoder's "Detect by content" option it wont load the file;
once I disable that option the file (which has mp3 extension) loads and play
correctly. But there's an additional problem, and it's that the MPEG
Information differs a lot from that reported by mp3info, following:

$ file xxx.mp3
xxx.mp3: mp3 file with ID3 2.0 tag

$ mp3info -x -rm xxx.mp3
File: xxx.mp3
Title:   XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX      Track: 1
Artist:  XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Album:   XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX      Year:
Comment:                                Genre: Black Metal [138]
Media Type: MPEG 1.0 Layer III
Audio:       160 KB/s, 44KHz (joint stereo)
Emphasis:    none
CRC:         No
Copyright:   No
Original:    No
Padding:     No
Length:      3:33

- XMMS MPEG Info. (translated from Spanish) -
MPEG 2.5, layer 3
Bitrate: 64 kb/s
Sample rate: 8000 Hz
Mono (or Single channel)
CRC: No
Copyright: Yes
Original: Yes
Emphasis: 50/15 ms
7401 frames
File size: 4263936 B

I can provide the header, or some other useful part of the file if that'd help
to solve the problem. Note that the ID3v1 is read correctly, though I'm not
sure about the v2 one.

The xmms package has been removed from Debian testing, unstable and
experimental, so I am now closing the bugs that were still opened
against it.

For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.

Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.

Thank you for your contribution to Debian.
