Package: xmms
Version: 1.2.10-1
Severity: important
Recently XMMS started having weird problems with MP3s and their ID3
tags. When these are displayed in the playlist or main window,
seemingly every other character is displayed, while right clicking and
going to file information will give the full tag information,
unmangled. I can not say exactly when this problem emerged, since there
was a two or so week period where I didn't use XMMS. I have tried
deleting my .xmms folder, and running as other users.
To give a few examples of the manglings,
"Chuck & Nabage - Live at the Lair" goes to "uk&Nvg iea h ar11-2"
"Paul Oakenfold - Bullet in a Gun (rabbit in the moon mix) - Planet
Perfecto" goes to "u aefl - ulti u rbi ntemo i)-Pae efco"
This error does not happen at all with OGGs. Marked as important since
it is nearly impossible to tell what track you are currently listening
to.

against it.
For more information about this package's removal, read
http://bugs.debian.org/461309 . That bug might give the reasons why
this package was removed, and suggestions of possible replacements.
Don't hesitate to reply to this mail if you have any question.
