Greetings.

Please consider...

When I try to point the iceweasel web browser at

    http://localhost/mediawiki/

it pops up a little window titled

    "opening"

which says

    you have chosen to open

    which is a: phtml file

    What should iceweasel do with this file?

        Open with <browse>

        Save file

        Do this automatically for files like this from now on.

                                <cancel>    <OK>

I seem to have fixed it by

    1.) installing the libapache2-mod-php5
    package,

    2.) $ apache2ctl restart

    3.) and clearing iceweasel's cache via
    edit->preferences->privacy->(private data)clear now

Aptitude also made some other changes which
seem to me to be unlikely to have helped, but I
mention them for the sake of completeness...

    $ aptitude install libapache2-mod-php5

    php5-mysql [5.2.9.dfsg.1-2 (now) -> 5.2.9.dfsg.1-4 (unstable)]

Perhaps mediawiki should depend on libapache2-mod-php5.

        Hi !

Thanks for reporting those issues. However, I am closing them: they are
related to the webserver's configuration, which is out of the scope of this
package and its documentation.

The reason for proposing the Alias commented out is because it cannot fit for
all installs, and also because most of webserver's administrator would like to
configure themselves where the mediawiki files are served and with which
configuration.

Romain
