Package: r-bioc-hilbertvis
Severity: normal

Hi Steffen

First of all, thanks for wrapping my HilbertVis R package into a
Debian package.

I've just looked through the Debian package meta-data and noticed
that it does not state that HilbertVis (or actually: HilbertVisGUI)
depends on gtkmm. (See ldd on
   /usr/lib/R/site-library/HilbertVis/libs/HilbertVis.so )

Providing the file libgtkmm-2.4,so should pull all other dependencies.
On my Ubuntu system, libgtkmm-2.4 is provided by package
libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a. I have little clue of Debian but I guess the
package should have the same or a similar name there.

Could you add this dependency, please?

Thanks

  Simon

Hi Simon,

thanks for the clarification. Yes, in fact we only have packaged the
non-GUI R part (Steffen Möller might or might not have certain reasons
for it). So I will close this bug.

To keep an entry of your hint to HilbertVisGUI I added an entry on
the Debian Med tasks page at

  http://debian-med.alioth.debian.org/tasks/bio#hilbertvisgui

which is a kind of TODO list for the project and thus it might be picked
up by an interested developer. (Remark: If you are interested to dive
into Debian Packaging we will support your attempt in the Debian Med
project.)

Kind regards

      Andreas.

My apologies for not replying earlier. HilbertVis is split ion two
packages, 'HilbertVis' and 'HilbertVisGUI'. Only the latter requires gtkmm.
It contains the GUI tool for interactive exploring of data, while the
former contains the non-interactive parts.

I guess you have packaged only HilbertVis, without HilbertVisGUI. It might
make sense to put both together.

Cheers
  Simon
