Package: synce-sync-engine
Version: 0.11.1-2
Severity: important
Hello,
I used opensync and synce to sync the contacts between Kontact and my Windows
Mobile 6.1 phone. On the first sync my phone had no contacts. So all contacts
were, in fact, synced to a clean phone. I noticed that only one telephone
number per contact was synced and the rest was ignored.
The data loss on the Kontact side of the sync occures when changing a contact
on the phone that has multiple phone numbers in Kontact. The changed contact
replaces all data in Kontact using the data from the phone lacking the
additional phone numbers.
This comes without any warning and might degrade an addressbook slowly over
time. In this case it is hard to work with backups, because they do not contain
new data that constantly gets added to an address book.
Therefore I strongly advise against using this package. I guess it should come
with a big warning sticker: "Currently this package sneaks in and deletes some
phone numbers without notice."
Bye,
Malte

synce-sync-engine is no longer in Debian as oldstable has been cleared
in preparation for the Wheezy freeze.
