Package: sysklogd
Version: 1.4.1-10
Severity: wishlist

In Skolelinux, we need to rewrite the configuration of sysklogd at
install time to get the configuration we need. It would be nice if it
was possible to use debconf to get the required configuration, instead
of having to edit /etc/init.d/sysklogd and /etc/syslog.conf.

We need two features at boot time:

  - Being able to enable UDP listening, ie SYSLOGD="-r" in
/etc/init.d/sysklogd. It might be a good idea to implement the
patch from #98631 when fixing this.

  - Being able to add a syslog forwarding host in /etc/syslog.conf, ie
    a line like "*.* @loghost"

It would be nice if these features were configurable at install time,
for instance by making the postinst file write the two files on first
time install, using the values of some debconf templates. This would
make sure no extra question is asked at install time, while still
giving Skolelinux the flexibility we need.
