(And you could copy the sysklogd version for this purpose.) Also, sysklogd installs the main binary as: /sbin/syslogd whereas inetutils-syslogd installs /usr/sbin/syslogd. Not much of a problem. Finally, sysklogd provides cron jobs for rotating the scripts; inetutils-syslogd doesn't. Perhaps inetutils-syslogd could provide a logrotate rule file for rotating the log files listed in the default syslog.conf? In fact, the sysklogd package also has a couple of nice scripts for helping: syslogd-listfiles and syslog-facility, which could be copied into the Debian (or even upstream) package.
