Package: inetutils-syslogd, sysklogd
Version: 2:1.4.2+20030703-4, 1.4.1-11

So I notice that the sysklogd package lists /etc/syslog.conf as a
conffile of the package, whereas inetutils-syslogd doesn't; I think
that inetutils-syslogd should do *something* in this realm; perhaps
have a default version /usr/share/inetutils/syslog.conf which is
copied to /etc/syslog.conf during the postinst if no such file
currently exists. (And you could copy the sysklogd version for this
purpose.)

Also, sysklogd installs the main binary as: /sbin/syslogd whereas
inetutils-syslogd installs /usr/sbin/syslogd. Not much of a problem.

Finally, sysklogd provides cron jobs for rotating the scripts;
inetutils-syslogd doesn't.  Perhaps inetutils-syslogd could provide a
logrotate rule file for rotating the log files listed in the default
syslog.conf? In fact, the sysklogd package also has a couple of nice
scripts for helping: syslogd-listfiles and syslog-facility, which
could be copied into the Debian (or even upstream) package.
