--- Begin Message ---Package: emacs21 Version: 21.3+1-4 Severity: wishlist Tags: sid, patch Hi!, Is it possible to add an alternate name to run emacs in terminal-only mode, in the same way the '-nw' option does?. The idea is to be able to have a terminal-only emacs as a "Debian alternative" to /usr/bin/editor. This will be specially usefull when remotely running programs that call the editor (like crontab, reportbug, ...) A "pseudo patch" would be the following paragraph:D (I'm sorry if I'm using the patch tag in an inadequate way)... I guess something as simple as a link to the Emacs binary called 'emacs-term', 'emacs-nox' or something like that could work... I was looking at the code, and it seems that just setting 'inhibit_window_system=1' if argv[0] equals this alternate name should do the trick. I do not know if this might have some ill side effects, though. The only step remaining afterwards is to put this name available as an editor alternative (A rather high priority should be possible, no?:D) Thank you very much!!..
