Package: pidgin
Version: 2.10.10-1~deb7u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When Pidgin tries to connect to an irc server with a self signed SSL
certificate, it rejects the certificate and aborts the connection while
outputting a pop up alert:

"The certificate for irc.2600.net could not be validated. The certificate chain
presented is invalid."

The alert dialog does not have any options to view/accept/reject the
certificate that were available in previous versions of Pidgin. It only has a
close dialog button. Due to this, a connection to the server can not be made.

I would like to suggest that the options to view/accept/reject self signed SSL
certificates be reinstated.

Thank you.

I believe this is intentional: http://www.pidgin.im/news/security/?id=86
That error message might mean that it's using an insecure algorithm that
has been disabled. There should be some more information in the debug log.
