Package: emacs20
Version: 20.7-2
Severity: wishlist
The program rcs2log appears to be a duplicate of the utility with the
same name in the cvs package.
There also seems to be a package cvs2cl in testing/unstable which
appears to offer the same functionality.
$ locate rcs2log
/usr/bin/rcs2log
/usr/lib/emacs/20.7/i386-debian-linux-gnu/rcs2log
$ dpkg -S rcs2log
cvs: /usr/bin/rcs2log
emacs20: /usr/lib/emacs/20.7/i386-debian-linux-gnu/rcs2log
$ locate rcs2log | xargs ls -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 17663 Mar 22 2000 /usr/bin/rcs2log
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 17623 Jun 20 2000
/usr/lib/emacs/20.7/i386-debian-linux-gnu/rcs2log
Here's the output from the one from cvs:
$ /usr/bin/rcs2log --help
Usage: /usr/bin/rcs2log [OPTION]... [FILE ...]
The default FILEs are the files registered under the working directory.

Perhaps this could be broken out of the Emacs package and into its own
package in order to facilitate sharing between Emacs, cvs, and
possibly others?
Please consider crossposting this bug report to the cvs package in the
Debian BTS.
Thanks,
/* era */
I'm running Debian stable. Sorry if this is already fixed in testing
or unstable.

This bug has been reported against an ancient version of emacs (emacs21,
emacs22) that is no longer supported. It is assumed to be fixed (or no
longer relevant) in newer releases and therefore I'm closing this report
now. If the problem is still reproducible in the current version
(emacs24), feel free to provide more information and reopen this bug report.
Andreas
