Package: samba
Version: 3.0.14a-3
Severity: important

After starting samba, then winbind, clients cannot authorize correctly
(seemingly) due to a lack of agreement on the separator character
between smbd and winbindd. Winbind parses the option literally and the
first non-(white)space character seen after the = is taken as the
separator. However, smbd doesn't seem to parse it in the same way and
the separator character must be put between quotes to distinguish the
character. The scenario taken (now) to start up samba is (assuming
winbind separator = +) :

start up samba and winbind (order doesn't seem to matter)
change smb.conf such that:
winbind separator = "+"
invoke-rc.d samba restart

At this point clients authenticate okay.
