stable-security update from 7u79-2.5.6-1~deb8u1 to 7u85-2.6.1-5~deb8u1
introduces a new dependency on libsctp1. This makes most automatic
stable update schemes fail, requiring manual admin intervention to
install the security update.
This is a security problem because it leaves systems trusting auto-
update shemes vulnerable until the administrator notices the update
failure. This is made worse by the fact that the new dependency is
undocumented both in the changelog and in the security announcement.
This is not the first time this package has been affected such
problems. See also the yet unreplied bug #780665
I ask that unnecessary depencies are avoided in future security
updates. Failing that, I ask that the security team take the
necessary precautions, warning adminstrators about the possible
manual upgrade required.
Thanks
Bjørn
