--- Begin Message ---Package: gtk-gnutella Version: 0.96.1svn11444-3 Severity: important Hi. This version has a serious desig flaw. Users who use a NFS-directory as their home are unable to use this program when a certein size of runningn downloads is hit. The size is determined by the networkspeed of how fast the network is able to write the downloads files into the ${HOME}/.gtk-gnutella directory. If the network speed is only 10MBit the size of the download file should not exceed 3-4MB otherwise the permanent saving of the download state cloggs the network with repetive saving and no bandwidth is available for actual down- or upload. For faster network connections this applies at large files, but reachable as well. it would be much better to ave the tempoary downloadsstate in a file located of a faster filesystem. The local filesystem is normally the fastest and /tmp should be one. With the correct precautions /tmp is secure enough to place the file there. The ${HOME} directory is a bad place to loacte a fast changing tempoary file.
