If gnucash is killed with a file open, the next time you start, there's
a dialog to steal the lock. Once I OK that, there's a progress bar for
loading the file. On the console, I get:

It's been two years since Thomas asked if this bug occurs in recent
versions and over two months since I asked if there was any more
information on this bug report.
I'm closing the bug report now that gnucash 2.0.0 is in unstable, using
gtk2 instead of the problematic gtk1 used by the version in the bug report.
