Package: cheese
Version: 2.30.2
I am using Debian Squeeze on a Asus EEE PC 701 G. This is the Linux version:
Linux bluebottle 2.6.32-5-686 #1 SMP Fri Dec 10 16:12:40 UTC 2010 i686
GNU/Linux
On selecting the movie button and pressing Record the capture window
turns black, shows a single frame a few seconds later, and then black
again. The saved OGV file looks the same. The sound gets recorded.
This error message appears on the terminal a moment later:
In the preferences the webcam device is "UVC Camera
(eb1a:2761)(/dev/video0) and the resolution is 640 x 480, those were the
defaults.
I've run "gstreamer-properties". In the Video tab "Default Output"
section "Plugin" says "Autodetect", the other options are greyed out.
In "Default Input" section "Plugin" says "Video for Linux 2 (v4l2)",
"Device" says "Default:, "Pipeline" is greyed out. All those are the
defaults.
This command will record video perfectly:
mencoder tv:// -fps 30 -ovc lavc test.avi
--Glyn
