I suspect the segfault is not because there is no volume defined,
but is actually caused by the same bug as #302024. [1]

The simplest workaround is to change your pam setup so that it only
calls pam_mount once as an auth module, and once as a session module
(eg. Only have one occurange of @common-pammount in any services's pam
config file) as described in the log for #302024.

If that works, try the patch in [2] against the current version, and see
if _that_ fixes the segfaulting.
