Sorry, its seems that I missed part of the patch, could 
you please try the revised version that is attached. 
Note that  the first chunk is the original patch that I sent,
and the second chunk is the but I missed.

This one compiles and works perfectly!  If you require the output from dmesg or anything, please advise.
I'd consider this one 'resolved'.
