I start vino-preferences, I check on "Allow other users to view...", I
close the dialog box. No error is shown, vino-server is not
executing (ps aux|grep vino), connecting to it from other computer
does not work. How can I find out where the problem is?

vino-preferences should set org/gnome/Vino/enabled in DConf.

Looking with dconf-editor, org/gnome/Vino does not exist on my machine.

My bad, the schema is weird. It is org.gnome.Vino for GSettings (as will
show gsettings get or gsettings list-recursively), but the location used
in DConf is desktop/gnome/remote-access/enabled.

This works: both keys (dconf and gsettings) switches when checking on/off the setting in vino-preferences.

The process is then started by gnome-session which looks for this
setting because it is mentioned
in /usr/share/gnome/autostart/vino-server.desktop.

Is it started when pressing Close or when new connection arrives?

It is started when clicking the checkbox.

I have this:
snoopy:~$ grep Autos /usr/share/gnome/autostart/vino-server.desktop
AutostartCondition=GSettings org.gnome.Vino enabled
X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Applications

but when checking on, no vino is started:
snoopy:~$ ps aux|grep -i vino
ededu 7682 1.7 0.3 338692 14136 pts/0 Sl 17:37 0:00 vino-preferences ededu 7687 0.0 0.0 9228 892 pts/0 S+ 17:38 0:00 grep --color -i vino
snoopy:~$ ps aux|grep -i vino

I should have seen it with ps, is that right?
