Thank you, I see from the logs you sent me that everything works as it should; FWIW, you should be able to use AUCTeX with all the three emacsen you have installed at your site without problems. Try a `dpkg --configure --pending', please, and confirm if AUCTeX configuration still fails. If I understood correctly, you did not have problems with version 11.86-11, did you? The bug showed up upgrading from -11 to -12 you told me; will you please try downgrading to -11 and report what happens? Note to myself: I cannot reproduce this bug at my site neither with emacs23 only neither with both emacs23 and emacs24 installed.
