Package: linphone-nogtk
Version: 3.5.2-10
Severity: wishlist

I'm putting this as a wish list item because there may not be
a gracefull way to handle it, but perhaps some imaginative thinking
might overcome the issue.
Basicly, if you run it as advertised, linephonecsh doesn't seem
to have a way to recieve text chat messages.
If the server/slave linphonec --pipe session is run in a seperate
console (possibly launched with screen, openvt or tmux - in any case
not as advertised to run it :-) ), you can observe multiple copies
of the same text message dumped as they are recieved.
Off hand, I don't know any way to route these to the
(possibly arbitrary, and therefore not really predicatable)
console where linephonecsh is being run.
Maybe it would be good if linphonec had a switch that causes it to
save messages (a predefined number of the latest in a buffer)
until a request to dump them is recieved (a new command
for linephonecsh) ,
then it would know how to dispose of them as it
normally does for other commands. There may be better ways this could
be handled.
A brief note of this quirk might be good for the linphonecsh man page.
Maybe it is best to use a seperate xmpp/jabber client. :-)

I also noted that

linephonecsh generic ''

blocks, where it seems like it should just return to the prompt.

Thanks for any consideration and the work you are doing.
