Hi Massimo, Here are my conclusions after a short testing.
Rebuilding TclX with the newer Tcl doesn't help to fix [profile on] on 8.5. After applying the patch I've found that it fixes profiling on 8.5 (and all still work on 8.4). In 8.6 [profile on] itself doesn't crash the tclsh, but any command after that does, so this will need deeper analysis. I suspect the problem may be connected with the new stackless code in 8.6.
