Hi, after further investiations it seems to be a timing issue. Sometimes it works without problems, but most of the time it doesn't. Even with a new user and a clean home it sometimes occurs on the first run of xfce4-terminal but not always. When setting the background to be transparent the problem seems to occur more likely but this could just be a coincidence.
