I'm not sure off-hand which distribution this came from, but I thought
it came from "testing".

I'll see what I can do about performing an upgrade on that machine.

I've noticed that newer versions do that (older just used a symlink).  It
just seemed to make sense to let automount bring the disc on-line.  I'll
see if I can change that to be as you suggest.
