There where so many changes in the X system an the drivers and as i know it normally runs without any xorg.conf now. When an xorg.conf is needed, why it is not generated? Why there is no clear message what to do when it can't be done automatically? Please don't missunderstand me, but a running X after an installation is really basical. The X system is to complex to know what to do as "normal user". Landing on the console is a step backwards for 10 years or more. Maybe now you say "why you don't use the nouveau driver when it's working?" My answer is: "Why i have to go without 3D glx functions and the real potential of the graphics card?" Why there is no easy way to switch back to nouveau when the nvidia-driver does not work?
