It seems by this comments that the whole purpose of the timedated.target was superseded, and, above from that, systemd-timedated seems to be working fine: $ dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.timedate1 /org/freedesktop/timedate1 org.freedesktop.timedate1.SetTimezone Aug 29 13:56:36 moirae dbus[1343]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.timedate1' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.timedate1.service' Aug 29 13:56:36 moirae systemd[1]: Starting Time & Date Service...
