Comments/Problems: I wanted to change the plymouth themes on both the
desktop and laptop computers. So I installed plymouth and
plymouth-themes as well as 135217-3debian-plymouth in a tar.gz file is
where the debian-sunrise-blue-plymouth came from. When I went to
changer the plymouth theme on the Acer Aspire 5336-2460 laptop, I
encountered an issue with firmware as shown below:
<USER>@<USER>-Aspire-5336:~$ su -

root@<USER>-Aspire-5336:~# /usr/sbin/plymouth-set-default-theme --list

root@<USER>-Aspire-5336:~#

After this, I rebooted the laptop and the plymouth theme was loading just
fine. Even though the terminal said “Unable to locate package
firmware-linux-nonfree”. I have tried other plymouth themes and got the
same message after I update-initramfs -u:

 update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.16.0-4-amd64

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso5.bin for module tg3

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3_tso.bin for module tg3

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/tigon/tg3.bin for module tg3

I reboot with out using apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree and the
other plymouth themes loads just fine.

Now when I fallow the same process ASUS M2N-SLI desktop computer, I
don't get a missing firmware warning as shown below:

 <USER>@debian:~$ su -

Password:

root@debian:~# /usr/sbin/plymouth-set-default-theme --list

debian-sunrise-mono

root@debian:~# update-initramfs -u

root@debian:~#

The strange thing about this is when rebooting the system, the
plymouth theme doesn't Load. I can't figure it out.
