I'm using system with ipv6 support disabled at boot time by kernel command line
"ipv6.disable=1"
When I'm trying to use it, i.e.:
$ mtr wp.pl

I got error message
"Unable to allocate IPv6 socket for nameserver communication: Address family
not supported by protocol"

This issue is fixed in version commit ac84e1db5aeb5f0d63a8302a8a1500ba2638eeee
