The new version of iceweasel doesn't fix this either.

Nope. The first thing I did was to move `.mozilla`,
`.conkeror.mozdev.org` and `.conkeror` from my home directory to
`/tmp` – still the same error message. After that I created a whole
new user, tried to start conkeror with that user and got the same
error again. I did the latter by doing `ssh -Y dummy@localhost conkeror`
