I appreciate your offer, but at the moment, not really... I already did
the part with the upstream source files, for all commits since the
initial revision -- that's how I recreated the ~70 patches out of the
single format 1.0 diff. The result of this is in the aforementioned sf3
(up to 3.0pl1-123, I think).

The sheer size and number of changes make this really hard to get into,
but I'm already halfway through a review and reorg, after which it
should be much easier.

Once I've cleaned things up, I'll gladly come back to you for help and
review! This is a big change, and I'd feel much more comfortable with
more eyes looking into this.
