Package: mediathekview
Version: 7.1-1
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

I use mediathekview a lot, althought not on this system (which is
actually only a VM). I never experienced this problem before, but now
repeatedly which makes mediathekview and the entire system unusuable.
I will check on my main system next week.

Steps to reproduce:

1: Start Mediathekview

2. Acknowledge newer version and missing programms (only on first
call, not on subsequent ones).

3. Select "Sandmann" in Thema/Titel. Select a "Sandmännchen" and
choose (Right Mouse button) "Film aufzeichnen".

4. Choose "OK"

5. Sometimes the download works as expected, but in most cases the
following happens:

a) a vlc process appears, ps aux tells me:
kreutzm+ 27684 15.0 1.3 762504 28124 pts/4 Sl+ 10:45 0:04
/usr/bin/vlc
http://http-stream.rbb-online.de/san/sendung/sendung_20151126_lennart_im_grummetal_lecker_kraecker_WEB_L_16_9_960x544.mp4?url=5
:sout=#standard{access=file,mux=ts,dst=/home/kreutzmannhelge/MediathekView/Sandmann/Sandmann-Unser_Sandmännchen_vom_26.11.2015-sendung_20151126_lennart_im_grummetal_lecker_kraecker_WEB_L_16_9_960x544.mp4.ts}
-I dummy --play-and-exit

b) Mediathekview does not give visual feedback at all (at least I
don't see any). Also no (vlc) window appears.

c) In the following seconds / minutes the hard disc is completely
filled up, if I delete files the space is immediately occupied by a
(bogus?) ts file, i.e.
root@debian:/home/kreutzmannhelge/MediathekView/Sandmann# ls -hltr
insgesamt 5,1G
-rw-r--r-- 1 kreutzmannhelge kreutzmannhelge 5,1G Nov 27 10:51
Sandmann-Unser_Sandmännchen_vom_26.11.2015-sendung_20151126_lennart_im_grummetal_lecker_kraecker_WEB_L_16_9_960x544.mp4.ts

Note that this file should be ~ 127 MB.

d) The system (which is a single partion set up as recommended by the
debian installer) breaks, i.e. many processes / programms no longer
work as no space is left. When I discovered this two days ago it took
me quite some time (and I deleted quite some files first) before I
discovered the root cause and killed (requires -9!) the unwanted vlc process and
removed the > 5 GB file.

Please note, that after kill -9 mediathekview brings a pop up that the
downlaod was erreounus ("fehlerhaft").

Two notes:
a) If I actually choose "Film (URL) abspielen" vlc starts as expected
and plays the file.
b) If I actually choose "URL kopieren" and use wget to download the
file I get a file which can be played and has an expected size
(although a different date and name then I expected).

I only use this VM occasionally when travelling, so I don't know when
exactly it started to appear. It definitley worked in October, but
broke on Wednesday.

Regarding the severity: The system became almost unusaable (many
programs behave strange when no space is left) while mediathekview was
giving me no indication of the problem. I really was not expecting the
problem here (rather in some database of logging process). Also there
is no obvious way to resolve the issue, e.g. cloisng mediathekview
does not kll the vlc process and remove the bogous (big) file. Thus
the severity.

If you have any (further) questions or tests you would like me to make
please do not hesitate to ask. Also I only have occasional access to
this system so it would be great if we could do the tests this
weekend. I'll also check how my ordinary system behaves on monday
evening. (Though there a more advanced partitioning system has been
used, reducing the impact of this bug).
