Norbert, while I do speak TeX at quite a low level, I'm not sure I'm qualified and skilled enough to do that. It turned out the source code for the patch I linked here is published at http://mova.org/bellinux/belarusian-0.3.tar.gz; I had a quick look at the strings and they look fine to me.
