Package: gajim Version: 0.16.5-2 Followup-For: Bug #835472 Dear Maintainer,
the problem is not in gajim and not related to the gajim package update. The problem is caused by a new version of the python-protobuf package which affects the python-axolotl package, on which gajim depends: See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=835271 and https://github.com/tgalal/python-axolotl/issues/14 the OP thought it was a gajim issue because both python-protobuf and gajim packages has been updated recently. An immediate workaround would be to downgrade to python-protobuf_2.6.1-2 which is still available in the archives: http://debian.sil.at/debian/pool/main/p/protobuf/ In the bug reports above I also point to a temporary fix for python-axolotl, the maintainer of that package could apply the patch to the package until the upstream devs answer about a long term fix.
