Hi Jurij,

There are various patches that people have applied to build the upstream
1.101 release of kexec-tools on architectures other than i386 and ia64.
I have been waiting for upstream to release a newer version of
kexec-tools with support for other architectures. AFAIK, kexec will
ultimately be supported on all architectures. It just will take time to
get there. As a result, I am a little reluctant to restrict the arch
list for kexec-tools package. If there is enough of a need, I am willing
to look at the patches floating on fastboot mailing list for
architectures other than ia64 and i386 and see if those could be
incorporated in kexec-tools package.

Hi,

There is no real rush. I just bumped into kexec-tools while examining the list of the packages which failed to build on sparc. If there are upstream plans to support other arches, then it's totally fine. The only concern is whether this support will be done in time for etch.

Best regards,
