debian/changelog doesn't get modified by changelog.$arch. The latter is generated by dh_installchangelogs from debian/changelog and gets installed into the binary package. The order is (currently) the following: - "nmu" command is sent to wanna-build - sbuild is executed with the --make-binNMU on the buildds - sbuild modifies debian/changelog in the source package by adding a new changelog entry at the top, copying the timestamp of the last entry - sbuild executes dpkg-buildpackage - dpkg-buildpackage parses debian/changelog and calculates SOURCE_DATE_EPOCH from the top-most entry - debian/rules calls dh_installchangelogs which creates changelog.$arch Maybe you were talking about reproducing the package build from the timestamp in changelog.$arch? Thanks! cheers, josch
