Hi Julian I am then asking for advice.

I am currently working on autopkgtest in scope of support for gating autopkgtests for unstable to testing migration¹. One of the steps that is needed (and currently supported for Ubuntu's pockets (without deb822 support)) is a way to generate a new sources file for an additional release based on the *first* currently configured release. What I need is to be able to reasonably reliably determine it, hence rely on integrated tools from apt. What tools do you propose I use (autopkgtest is written in python, hence I was looking at python-apt). I hope you will not recommend to not support deb822 in general. > Given the complexity of the issue at hand and no chance for a solution in > the foreseeable future, I'm downgrading this to wishlist, according to its > description: "[for any feature request, and also] for any bugs that are very > difficult to fix due to major design considerations."
