I don't believe that follows: gconf2 has a dependency on
"default-dbus-session-bus | dbus-session-bus", and the default option
(dbus-user-session) does indeed bring in systemd, but dbus-session-bus is also
provided by dbus-x11 that has no such dependency.  At the next step in the
dependency chain, dbus itself depends on libsystemd0, but that's just a stub
that's used to determine whether systemd is active, like its similar
dependencies libselinux1 and libapparmor1 - none of which mandate the use of
their corresponding systems.
