Package: apt Version: 1.4.6 Severity: wishlist In apt_preferences, would it possible to pin packages by their source name?
I'm a developer and I'm using pinning for several development packages. I currently list the binary packages by hand, by really I'd like to match packages by their source name in _most_ scenarios. For packages such as llvm, it's cumbersome and error-prone to list all built packages. Skipping one package will likely result in dependency issues due to version mismatches. I'd rather match on "Source: llvm-toolchain-*". Likewise, I'd like to match all packages built by "rustc". This is true for almost all packages that build more than a single binary. Would it be possible to extend apt_preferences so that in addition to Package stanzas we also have Source? -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (900, 'unstable'), (800, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.11.0-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages apt depends on: ii adduser 3.115 ii debian-archive-keyring 2017.5 ii gpgv 2.1.18-8 ii init-system-helpers 1.48 ii libapt-pkg5.0 1.4.6 ii libc6 2.24-11 ii libgcc1 1:6.3.0-18 ii libstdc++6 6.3.0-18 Versions of packages apt recommends: ii gnupg 2.1.18-8 Versions of packages apt suggests: ii apt-doc 1.4.6 ii aptitude 0.8.7-1 ii dpkg-dev 1.18.24 pn powermgmt-base <none> ii python-apt 1.4.0~beta3
