I'm afraid I don't really agree with this bug closure. Note that
Christian Perrier's message was not sent to me, so I did not have the
opportunity to comment.

The reasons for closure given are:

 * it is is the 6th oldest opened bug in Debian

Not sure if this is actually being advanced as a reason for closing
the bug but if so I don't think it is a good one.

 * It is marked `upstream' and upstream is dead.

If upstream is dead then it is a mistake to mark the bug as
`upstream'. Instead, we are now upstream. That upstream is dead
is a terrible reason to close a bug.

 * It is marked as `wishlist'

This is IMO a mistake. My report describes data corruption
   resulting in entirely wrong output.

 * "nothing will ever be done about it"

If someone tells me my patch will be considered on its merits, I
   will write a patch.

Sorry to be awkward.

Thanks,
Ian.
