Other than that, I also want my browser to be secure, and since chromium does not have an esr version like firefox, the only way to have all the latest security updates is to have the latest available version. And if you check here, there are 10+ cve that are open right now that debian does not have the latest version. https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/chromium If you, as a user, want to stick to an older version for any reason, stick to it, but please do not use it for serious online tasks where security is the top concern, e.g. web banking. Furthermore, I know how much time is required to build chromium, that is why I complained 2 weeks after the release, because I did not expect it to be ready on day 1 (although it usually is). Moreover, I use chromium on windows, for the last 5+ years. I get it from a github repo and its maintainer has never missed a single major version all those years, although he must have missed a couple of minor ones. Assuming that he builds it on his pc, he does a better job than debian in keeping it up to date. And he is a single person as it seems.
