I think we probaly either need to address this soon, or consider removing libmatheval from Debian.
Sometimes it's sufficient to just update the build dependency from say guile-2.0-dev to guile-3.0-dev and adjust some of the related versions in configure.ac (or configure.in), but in this case it looks like more might be required. When I make those adjutments to 3.0 with the current package I see some SCM related type errors which I suspect are problems with the types/prototypes in the library, i.e. int is (and was) not (transparently) interchangable with SCM. I may investigate further myself if I have time, but please don't rely on that.
