I've tested it here and got the same error as we have in unstable.

Andreas Beckmann also confirmed it doesn't work for him.

Are you sure you're testing it in a clean Bullseye system?

Anyway, I'm dropping my request to removal from stable/old-stable for
now: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1006879
