Exactly ... when I write "same behaviour" I mean exactly the same :) It stops at the same point as shown in the videos , no further messages ... with a vanilla kernel 5.16.18 with that patch applied. I posted the diff of the ata_pii driver to highlight that maybe there was a change in the structure of libata and subsequently in the related drivers that I suspect (maybe) have broken something.
