This was long blocked by Debian not having pipectl packaged and me initially not being sure whether demand for pipectl was there for it to be packaged in distros.
wl-mirror 0.16.1 makes pipectl optional for wl-present (but still recommended), so this is now definitely easily possible, but I will also see that pipectl makes it into Debian for the further future as well. I will release wl-mirror 0.16.1-2 with wl-present included and will create an ITP for pipectl. Once that is in Debian, I will add pipectl as an optional dependency (Recommends) to wl-mirror.
