A phpbb2 user may configure his profile and enter his ID in several proprietary instant messaging (IM) systems there. I was wondering why the open and secure alternative for instant messaging Jabber <http://www.jabber.org/> is missing here. Please add support for the Jabber ID ("jid") in the user's profile. The syntax is basically like an e-mail address. If you think the list of IM contacts becomes too long, allow the administrator to modify the label of the fields (this requires a major change in phpbb2 since the field names are also in the mysql tables).
