Control: close 1064528 I found that this is the `ls --color=auto` default behavior without any LS_COLORS value. There is a default .bashrc (see /etc/skel/.bashrc) that sets and exports LS_COLORS so it confused me during tests then fish was a sub-shell or a login shell.
