Assuming it is the same problem I see here, it is not a bug in JFFNMS
but a bug/feature? of snmpd

JFFNMS looks at the system object id to determine if the thing it is
looking at is a Linux host, if the remote site lies, then JFFNMS takes
it as true.

Try looking at the sysObjectID string, here is mine looking at a host
running snmpd:

gonzo$ snmpget -v 1 -c public localhost system.sysObjectID.0
SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::dod.0.0.0.0.0.0.0

This is a non-valid objectID, can you confirm this is what you see as
well?
