I'm running 1.16~rc3-2 myself on my trixie machine. So I'm wondering what's special about your setup. I'm assuming something got corrupted.
When I start liferea it just hangs and needs to be killed with -9. This is the output with --debug-all. I also tried renaming the plugins directories but it did not help.
Can you temporarily move ~/.cache/liferea out of the way and see if it still crashes? Same with ~/.config/liferea.
