I think the decent solution is packaging Thunderbird into thunderbird
and thunderbird-esr like Firefox, or the latest release will never
reach any branch.
This isn't something we want to do as it would not solve the underlying
issue, and this is time to do the packaging.
The latest stable! version (aka esr) while writing is 140.11.1, the most
recent non ESR version is 152.0b2.

Once there is enough free time to build and prepare a version for the
experimental part in the archive we will upload this of course. It just
no priority at the moment.
