Thanks! I wonder whether Fabian would be willing to grant you push
permissions. Personally, I would still prefer to move the repository
to the Debian team, as this would make future Debian maintenance easier
for everyone involved.

I can certainly understand the concern about losing the existing GitHub
history and issue/PR discussions.
For Debian maintenance, however, I see a clear advantage in having the
repository on Salsa: Debian maintainers already have accounts there,
there is dedicated CI infrastructure, and Salsa is the platform we use
for Debian packaging. In particular, it would make it much easier for
other Debian contributors to work directly on the package, including
changes arising from the recent NMUs.
The existing GitHub history can of course be preserved when migrating
the repository, so I don't think we would need to lose that valuable
information.

I appreciate the offer. For my part, I would prefer to keep my
involvement with GitHub to a minimum and do the Debian packaging work
directly on Salsa. I hope you can understand that preference.
If you are happy to make the corresponding changes on GitHub and merge
them there, that would of course also be a possible way to keep the
current repository up to date while we work out the migration.
